We got invited to go to Wolf Trap to see the singalong version of The Sound of Music. That is some special kind of dorky.
But it was fun.
Every time I pick someone up from Dulles airport we pass the signs for Wolf Trap and they ask me why we need to be made aware of where the wolf trap is, and whether it's some kind of weird tourist attraction. Well, it sort of is. It's a "National Park for the performing arts." I can't figure that one out either.
We received our goodie bag with signs and symbols and an edelweiss sprig to hold up. We learned all the gestures for drinking tea or sewing thread, to bark at Rolf and to hiss at the Baroness. That was sort of hard to do because they really weren't bad people.
There was a costume contest. Lots of nuns, girls in white dresses (with blue satin sashes), some tea with jam and bread, stuff like that. It's the Rocky Horror for the mild and middle-aged.
They let you bring food and wine, so again, it's A-OK!
