She Came from Planet Z

And just like that, the rain stopped.

Heh heh.  Isn't it funny?  How, like, you can have a bad day?  And then, like, have a good day?

And all because you somehow feel better, not because the actual day was any different.  But y'know what feels good?  Feeling good after a day of feeling bad.  Yes I do think so.

I'm making friendship bracelets like crazy.  If you double up the strings, they go really fast.  They are gifts for my wee second-cousins that we see every memorial day.  For two years now I have promised them friendship bracelets, as they always see mine and want some. 

So, uh, be calm and happy everyone! 

emerging from holiday land

Heya, I'm back from holiday land.  The land of cheesy potatoes and chocolate as far as the eye can see has now subsided... and now we kids are left to bum around the house without schedule.  There is a sense of freedom, but also isolation as we are tempted to both pick up the phone and acutally talk to someone, and never pick up the phone so that we can stay on the couch in or pjs all day.

How about a glimpse of the last couple days?

My paper fashions set is now complete, so that I can craft my way through winter break with some sort of clothing satisfaction.

As far as winter goes, it must still be young because we've had rain all day for the past couple days.  Get colder, nature!

Yup, there ya have it.  I just liked the overall design and colors in the commercial, how it flowed, yada yada yada.  Now then. 

Life has taken sort of a busy turn... (busy turn?) I have agreed to do another bazaar (craft sale) this November.  This means, this time, clay.  Oh, and collage greeting cards, but we don't really care about those.  What we care about is miniature foods!

 
 
Can you see them?  The pumpkin pies?  Oh, curse this dull overcast weather.  These were the only good pictures, featuring my "meh" citrus cupcakes.  Cute, nonetheless.

 
I am thinking of selling them for 8 dollars, but the prices always go last.  I've already gotten a couple requests for some at school so I've been going hyper speed on the pumpkin pies.  And when the oven gets too hot...

I've tried to fit some actual drawing in right now, and so far have managed this yet-to-be inked in drawing of a girl from a site Aunt B sent me.  A ballet site.  I decided to only draw the girl.

 
 
The idea of making clay foods slightly gets to me... there is a continuing "cute food" trend going on that I don't really expect to stop.  It's hard to resist making them, and hard to resist buying them (I would think).  Also my craze seemed to begin the day I started responding to e-mails in a cute way, and participating somewhat in cute phrases at school.  Cute will never get old, it seems.

How's school, Zoe?  Well, here's my general answer:

-cross-country starts tomorrow, and I'm not sure if I'm definitely signed up, but I'm going anyway.  My one "brave thing" is way overdue. 

-homework has not hesitated with its arrival, and so far it's going as it always goes.

-we've already been given our annual "dream speech", and chosen high school pathways.  I've chosen (and am sticking with it) A.P.  That's it.  We won't tell you any more about it. 

OK so basically it's not too hard and not the stay-up-til-two-doing-homework silly kind of hard and it's not the regular hard it's just kind of in between.

shiny circles

I like to look at all my papers.  And then I like to pick a sparkly one, and cut it into a circle.  And cover it with glue and more sparkles.  And wait for a while.  And check on it too often.  And then, when my little shiny circle is dry, I take a picture.  And then maybe I'll put it onto an earring hook and hang it from my ear.

 
 
Does it count as art?  I try not to ask myself that question, but what do you do when it comes up...

I am struggling to make a third pair of earrings as my last pair of earring hooks are covered in glue and paper, and I do not have the supplies I need to finish my already-started third pair.  For this I thank my previous self for spending the last of my money at McDonald's (we were really desperate... ) to feed a starving troup of teenage friends.  In the mean time, I wear these, which I finished two days after my first pair:

 
 
I have dreams of opening up a small earring store at my locker,open before and after lunch.  Then again, I'd have to resist spending my pocket money on fudge bars.  I have had many attempts to sell things at school in the past.  The first was Webkinz outfits, in fourth grade (which sold surprisingly well).  I liked to sew.  Then I tried selling bottlecaps, but I think the only sale I made there was trading one for a Canadian dollar.  It sounded really cool at the time. 

And then I have to remind myself that school will be out in less than three weeks.

 
This outfit is supposed to represent a character who, though she dresses very trendily now at school, is still that messy girl who has been wearing the belt she made at camp for three months and is wearing a towel skirt (made for the pool) just because it's fuzzy.  (this is all fictional, by the way)

I felt I kind of needed to back up why I put two very busy papers together... it just seemed to suite the mood.

Yes, a little pleasure kit that satisfies my urges to cut things, buy things, glue things, and sit.  Sitting is dangerous.  I can't remember if I've mentioned this before.  It makes you hunch.  Hunching makes your back ache.  It makes you bend your knees continuously.  That makes your knees ache.  And at the same time your body is trying to grow.  Which makes everything ache.  Oh, poor poor me. 

Nonetheless, what I'm excited about right now.

Homeade earrings, finally! 
I used some paper scraps to randomly glue together.  I had an urge to use sweet G's beetle stickers.  It was shockingly simple... just slather on some lacquer and let e'm sit for a couple days.  The loops that the earring hooks are attached to are snipped paper clips.  I intend on making more. 

Only on my blog do I realize how bland my life really is.  If you let yourself tumble in your own thoughts for long enough the world starts slowly shrinking... The word bland is used humorly during lunchtime.  Mrs. L's face is really bland... ha ha ha... that duck is really bland... ha ha ha...  At least we have Delilah, though.  Late at night I like to turn on the radio and stare out the window to rockin' pop music.  I actually got tired of this last night, (I suppose it's got to be 10:30 at night... ), so on comes Delilah.

As far as the Google Doodle goes, I have entered a completely different version from my first one, along with a computer version of it (meaning I made one similar to it on the computer).  I'm pretty happy with my design!  I'll put it up after the contest is over.

Ear update: Almost normal!  Horray!  Thank-you dragon egg pills!

cardboard.

 
I made a little house today.  Perhaps it was the math-loving E, who wanted to show me how to make a spiral staircase out of cardboard (yesterday), or perhaps it was the fact that our growing pile of cardboard boxes has almost reached the ceiling.  Either way, that little urge I used to get came back.  The urge that told me to cut boxes.  And I did so. 

 
Okay, so it's just a couple of boxes taped together, but I was fascinated (or was it annoyed?) that I made this strictly to have a wall to decorate with miniature posters.  Now?  Now, the urge to decorate is gone and I am left with this blank house.

 
On another note, I had my first Zoe-friend jogging session today.  But then the other friend got involved.  And her family.  And then the first friend's family did too.  And then before you know it, you've got two pairs of parents, two 8-year-old twin girls, and two friends to "jog" with.  And then, because there's so many of you, you have to go eat at the hamburger place instead.  Note, how this turned from an innocent conversation like this: "Hi!  Ya wanna go jogging today?", to a party.

Well, I got my exercise.

I never thought I would be saying this, but it was actually fun!

School is back to the regular.  I started health this quarter, and I have to say it's not very fun playing health mad-libs in a very cold basement with thirty-two some embarassed kids.  I did, however, find two un-harmed red jolly ranchers on the hallway floor today and managed to snitch a handfull of chips before the end-of-lunch bell rang.

I have never been more in love with paper before.  I still don't understand those weird kids in the back of the class who eat it, though.
