Hello there!  I am here to rant about fashion!

I have just had a moment of realization.  About fashion.  (in case you didn't already know that by now)

There is so much of it, fashion.  And, I feel that it has exploded so much in this world and has been explored in such a hyper manner that there's nothing new to try.  Everything that's being done is being repeated somehow.  I know what your thinking, fashion enthusiasts.  Yes of course that's how it is just be yourself that's all that matters. 

True.  But I, at this moment, am new to fashion and am making some sort of un-obvious attempt to try it out.  It mildly fascinates me.  It seems like a mild obligation for me to try out in my life.  And so, I have been rummaging through mega-popular fashion blogs open for something to click.  But it all reflects this cartoon/picture I drew about Forever 21:

It's all the same!  I have that problem of not being able to tell one trend apart from another.

Maybe if I travel to another country?  Is it the source that bothers me?  What if I saw all this style featured in some really un-expected place?  Or what if I only think of myself?  Is this blog only for me?  To just work things out?  Such as fashion?  And, like, our universe is just one speck of dust on a marble that a giant is playing in on a planet in an alternate universe besides ours that's just a speck of dust?

Ha ha!  Such a portrait!  The picture looks sorta 80's... I don't know why.

And so another birthday almost come and gone.  People were supportive and nice and friendly and nice and happy and fun and nice and it was all just good!  Oogh.  I am tired, but rest assured, I have survived my birthday. 

And a link for you?  I think maybe so, while I'm here.  It's pretty happy and pretty inspiring.

general-ness

Back from bazaar-ing.  It was not entirely profitable, but at least what's left over will make good gifts.  Uh oh, watch out, family.  Mom sold almost all of her fingerless gloves, though.

Yes, I have to admit that the magic of selling things is still there but not nearly as much fun as it was when I was eleven.  This is a very sad thing, but it was still a good way to spend a Saturday.

I remember nothing of school at this moment except for the talent show, a.k.a. a reason to sit on bleachers for two hours straight.  School school school school school.  Every thing I'm preparing for or creating or finishing or thinking about involves school in some way.  Is that fun to talk about or what? 

It has been a cold-infested, ear-infectious week.  I have to say that it was actually fun to go and buy a new binder and set of pencils today.  What really cheers me up are these, to add to the link pile:

recommended distractions

I have, for the first time in my life, over-scheduled.  I've gotta make six more (at least) greeting cards over the next two days for the bazaar, practice basketball like crazy, stock up on stuff for my art portfolio (since the class we signed me up for is too basic and the high school probably won't be impressed), do homework/study, and find time for my own personal obsessions like stop-motion animation.  I have not, unlike most of my friends, acquired the talent to accomplish all of these successfully.  I think. 

I have been successful at distracting myself.  For example, these music videos.  I highly recommend them.

Yup, there ya have it.  I just liked the overall design and colors in the commercial, how it flowed, yada yada yada.  Now then. 

Life has taken sort of a busy turn... (busy turn?) I have agreed to do another bazaar (craft sale) this November.  This means, this time, clay.  Oh, and collage greeting cards, but we don't really care about those.  What we care about is miniature foods!

 
 
Can you see them?  The pumpkin pies?  Oh, curse this dull overcast weather.  These were the only good pictures, featuring my "meh" citrus cupcakes.  Cute, nonetheless.

 
I am thinking of selling them for 8 dollars, but the prices always go last.  I've already gotten a couple requests for some at school so I've been going hyper speed on the pumpkin pies.  And when the oven gets too hot...

I've tried to fit some actual drawing in right now, and so far have managed this yet-to-be inked in drawing of a girl from a site Aunt B sent me.  A ballet site.  I decided to only draw the girl.

 
 
The idea of making clay foods slightly gets to me... there is a continuing "cute food" trend going on that I don't really expect to stop.  It's hard to resist making them, and hard to resist buying them (I would think).  Also my craze seemed to begin the day I started responding to e-mails in a cute way, and participating somewhat in cute phrases at school.  Cute will never get old, it seems.

How's school, Zoe?  Well, here's my general answer:

-cross-country starts tomorrow, and I'm not sure if I'm definitely signed up, but I'm going anyway.  My one "brave thing" is way overdue. 

-homework has not hesitated with its arrival, and so far it's going as it always goes.

-we've already been given our annual "dream speech", and chosen high school pathways.  I've chosen (and am sticking with it) A.P.  That's it.  We won't tell you any more about it. 

OK so basically it's not too hard and not the stay-up-til-two-doing-homework silly kind of hard and it's not the regular hard it's just kind of in between.

I could have taken a picture of just the magazine (answer to question), but I felt the pop tarts wraper went well with the whole picture.

Teen Vogue, I hate to say it, is on our table for a reason.  There's supposed to be a hurricane tomorrow (I say this casually, but notice how I don't restrain from saying that I'm really not looking foreward to it), so dad said that I might need some entertainment.  Same with the pop-tarts.  Those are pretty rare, too. 

So what better hurricane-entertainment choice than a booklet of shiny, scented advertisements?  That, my friends, is discovery #1.  Do not be fooled by the fact that everything you see can be bought somewhere, used somehow, and they will not make any of this hard to find out.

Nonetheless, I still have the urge to color.

Discovery #3?  I don't think Teen Vogue is meant for those older than myself.  Yup, pretty pictures, vague advice on fashion, pop stars that those newly crowned "teen" would still know about, and horoscopes (whatever that means).  It would only make sense, though.  Think about high school musical.  Only the 9-year-olds next door are crazy about that. 

This is disturbing to me somehow.  Now I feel vulnerable to the media.  I thought I was just sneaking a peak at the "adult" world... nope.

The Space Maker is entirely in swedish (ooh, maybe I should just leave it at that), but is a fun way to be somewhat artistic since you're already on the computer and might as well spend a little more time on it.  And then a little more after that.

Whip it!

 
We recently saw another movie starring Ellen Page... "Whip it!".  It features a 17-year-old girl stuck being a waitress at a small diner who has been forced into one too many beauty pageants by her mom.  When she finds out about a roller derby competition coming up, she sneaks into it with her friend and is immediately inspired.

 
She lies about her age and tries out for the team, makes it, and makes history.   

This was yet again another one of those movies where I have a giant urge to follow in the footsteps of the main character, but I guess drawing sorta makes up for that.  I started out with this drawing:

 
And then, using this Pentel brush pen I experimented with doing a full-body drawing.  (Thank you thank you thank you Aunt B for the pen!)  It took a while to really get the hang of this pen... the brush kept swiveling around in random directions when I was first trying it.  This is the only way I know -so far- of how to use it, but I think it works pretty well and makes an awesome comic-book style.  I probably should have taken a picture when it was all black and white.

 
I traced a bit of the top part so I would know where all her features fell, but had to make up the whole posture from the waist down.  Not too shabby!
